Avoid tables of all kinds and opt for somewhere high like a pantry shelf or cabinet. You think you’re the only one eyeing that candy pile? Colorful foil, crinkly plastic, and the sweet aroma of sugar and caramel-even your pet can’t resist! With that in mind, don’t leave your treats out where sticky paws and muzzles can reach. Well of course we want our pets to join in on the fun! If your pet is getting dressed up for Halloween festivities, whether indoors or out, make sure their costumes aren’t limiting in anyway this includes their ability to see, walk, and breathe. And if you must play with fire, do so responsibly and with a watchful eye! Updated tags and chips means a lost and frightened pet finds their way home.ĭid you know it’s not too bright to leave an open flame unattended? This goes for your jack-o-lantern too! Battery-operated tea lights are a great alternative to candles, especially when it comes to curious cats and dogs. Halloween night means a lot of door-knocking and bell-ringing-and potentially a lot of stress for your pet. Keep in mind, their flightiness is probably due to excitement and fear. With front doors opening and closing all night, Whiskers and Rex might see this as the perfect opportunity to make their great escape. It’s pet-safety time!īefore the big night arrives, be sure to make sure collar tags and micro-chips are all up-to-date. Yes dear readers, Halloween approaches! And while you may find yourself preoccupied with all the ghouls and ghosts this Saturday night, don’t forget about the four-legged critter(s) roaming the halls of your own home. The pumpkin is carved, the sequins are all glued on, and the candy bowl is filled to the brim. We thank you in advance for arming us with the ability to help our city’s homeless pets, and we wish you a wonderful and safe holiday season! We hope you will join us on December 1 in our efforts to stand firm on our mission: to protect and improve the lives of dogs and cats by providing shelter, care, adoption, rescue, spay and neuter programs, and community education. #GivingTuesday is a simple idea-it’s a way for your family, your community, your company, or your organization to come together to give something more. As the holidays approach and the weather gets colder, these homeless dogs and cats in our community need our help more than ever. This year, there is still a lot of work to be done, as 100,000 pets currently roam the streets of our city. Last year, the San Antonio Humane Society received over $3,000 on #GivingTuesday these funds helped us to continue our efforts in rescuing and providing medical care and shelter for homeless and neglected dogs and cats in San Antonio.
